Science Background

Ever since I was a kid I have always known I would be some sort of scientist. My dreams have varied from Paleontologist, to Volcanologist, to Ecologist, and so on but I currently have a Bachelor's of Science in Environmental Science with a Math minor. I graduated Magna Cum Laude with a 3.78 GPA, and as a member of the Phi Beta Kappa Honor society in May 2009 from Washington State University.

I have worked as an Undergraduate Research Assistant in the Laboratory for Atmospheric Research down at Washington State University under the advisement of Tim VanReken. I worked with aerosol generators, DMAs and SMPS systems, CPCs, and CCN counters. In July of 2008, I went to Colorado to work on the BEACHON project running and maintaining the CCN counter. I took the millions of lines of data and wrote algorithms in an Excel-like program called IGOR to analyze and graph the data. I enjoyed organizing such large volumes of data.

In 2001 I graduated high school at Lewis and Clark HS in Spokane, WA. I then enrolled at Spokane Falls Community College and obtained an Associates of Fine Arts Degree in Jazz and Audio Engineering. During those years I was able to go to the New Orleans Jazz Fest both years for a week each time. I learned an amazing amount about music, culture, and life in general and the experience changed my life completely.

While getting my two year degree I worked for Paula Bresnahan in the Music Department doing various things from janitorial work to stage setups. I then began working on an A.A. degree and continued working in the Music Department. I became the supervisor and trained the new employees as well as doing stage setups and running the lights and recording gear at concerts.

Wifey and I have been working on some new material but have had little time to get any recordings done so far. Hopefully we will be able to put something online in the near future.

I have been an avid user of computers since about 1993 when my fourth grade teacher had me install software on the Macs for her because she didn't know how to use them. I took two years of business computers, as well as keyboarding classes, during my high school years where I learned the Microsoft Office products as well as various other skills.

In 1999 I began a fansite for the band TOOL where I featured many rare bootlegs in mp3 format for free download. I also offered rare information about the band. I coded the entire graphical heavy site using notepad and paint, as well utilizing graphics from Mkzdk.org. The site was called Lachrymology.com and was named after a TOOL inspired term. The site was up for about 5 years and in the later years was getting around 10,000 unique hits a day.

I have also created websites for various other smaller now defunct local bands and small businesses. Now most of my energy is spent blogging and updating my own personal website here.
